Phra Nakorn Khiri Historical Park, or known locally as 'Khao Wang' - เขาวัง -
is a historical park /Summer Palace that sits on the peak of 93 meter hill in Phetchaburi province, Thailand.
About 2 hours from Bangkok, about 1 hour from the famous Hua Hin city, making Phra Nakorn Khiri Historical Park a convenient must stop to explore the Summer Palace/ Museum, built by the order of King Rama IV in 1860.
What we love:
The ride up the mountain in the Cable Car is fun. You can wander around the palace for as long as you like. The view from the mountain looking down at Phetchaburi city is wondrously beautiful.
Wild monkeys are our highlights! They live in these mountains and often hangs around these area. They are accustomed to people, but they are still wild, so don't feed them or provoke them, and they'll leave you alone. Be careful of your bags, cameras etc., the monkeys may snatch them. After all, they are still curious monkeys ;) So be smarter than the monkeys and protect yourself and your belongings.
